‘Generate-Activate'

Currently exhibiting in empty units at the Charlton Shopping Centre, High Street, Dover, Kent CT16 1TT

generate-activate.jpgThis is a project led by White Nave's Artists' Fulcrum.  It is a Dover-themed, public-accessible project that reflects Dover's regeneration plans.

We aim to contribute towards changing the overall visage of Dover to show how quickly and easily something can be done.  While the long term planning of larger works goes on, the regenerative spirit in Dover can be kept up with works that are both highly visable and reflect the concerns and abiding issues which drive the regeneration.

 ‘The Landscape of Exchange (1)’

August 2008

Rabat, Morocco – Dover, England – Amman, Jordan

landscape-of-exchange-(1).jpgThe Landscape of Exchange (1) is the first in a programme of events that examines the value (aethetic, cultural, fiscal) of exchange between young artists living beyond the perimeters of major Art-World centres.

In the months leading up to the simultaneous, three-venue exhibition, the artists will exploit the internet to trade ideas, advice, and artworks at little or no cost. The easy reproducibility of the works will eliminate their commercial value in celebration of the aesthetic and cultural values of exchange and collaboration. While the three exhibitions will occur in tandem, they will vary in accordance to the spaces (physical and cultural) they inhabit.

The Landscape of Exchange (1) is a curatorial collaboration between Rachael Daniels (Creative Director of White Nave, Dover, UK), Nadia Christidi (Independent Curator, Amman, Jordan) and Emma Chubb (Independant Curator, Philadelphia, USA).

‘Documenting Dover’

dover-documentary.jpgThis is a long-term project for White Nave to document Dover’s changes throughout the regeneration processes. We aim to do this via invitation to Dover’s communities to share their knowledge of the town’s recent history, their current ambitions and future aspirations using visual tools such as photography, found texts & imagery, poems, drawings, film etc.

Dover Discovery Centre staff will be working with White Nave to provide a physical archive and drop off area for any documentary works that can be accessed the public. All works donated and shared will be exhibited on a biannual basis in Dover thus acting as a celebration and reminder of what is to be expected and what has already been carried out.

London Biennale 2008

david-medalla.jpgLondon Biennale Director David Medalla has invited White Nave to contribute in this years’ events programme which is to be launched in Paris, France on May Day, moving to its London venues on 13th May and ending with a finale event on Brighton seafront on 31st August 2008.

The London Biennale has been running bi-annually for eleven years and is directed by artists David Medalla and Adam Nankervis (also Director of Museum Mann). David Medalla says:

“It has evolved into an artist community loosely based around London and the biennial events that take place there. Totaling over 300 artists, the Biennale organisation is not restricted to London, playing an active part in international events such as Changing Channels season (2003) in Berlin”.
